...moving on?
So. It's done. I've handed in my notice at work. I now have to wait to find out how much of my notice period (12 weeks) they actually want me to work...and whether I can negotiate it down if it's the full 12, given that starting a new job right before Christmas won't make the learning curve any shallower. The rumour mill is running overtime amongst my colleagues, and completely unrelated people who I haven't spoken to in months had found out by approximately 6 hours after I handed my notice in. Oh and I had a one-to-one interview with the head of engineering to explain why I was leaving and politely turn down offers for me to stay. That was a teensy tad awkward.
And now I continue on with my work as normal. It's a weird situation. And at the moment I am simply sad that I'm going to be leaving people who I really do enjoy working with. 80% of them at least. And I know this project, and I know roughly where I stand now in terms of responsibility. (Although to have had to only sort that out by telling people I'm leaving because of it is darn silly.)
But still. I think, overall, moving jobs will be a good thing for me. Even if it's only in the same way that the last three years have been good for me too. Because they have, really. Just not in any way I might have expected.
Yes. Cautiously hopeful.

Well, cautiously hopeful is better than absolutely terrified, isn't it?
Looks like it's all starting to come together. I hope it's not too awkward for you, although it sounds like it just might be. But I suppose soon enough you'll be on your way off, right?
Continual wishes of good luck, Skits. *grin*
Good for you.

I think it's great you are stepping out into the unknown-- best of luck!

Ditto to the cries of bravo.
I had no idea it had been three years. That went awfully quickly... Well, maybe for me.
Good luck with the new job! ;)

12 weeks seems like such a long notice period... standard here is 2 - 4. Oh well - hope it flies by quickly for you!
