Under Construction

I'm playing.

So if it looks a bit of a mess, just...I dunno, shut your eyes and go away. Count to 100 and then shout "ready or not" and...it'll probably be in exactly the same state when you come back. *shrugs* You can but try, though.

And I would just like to say that it is entirely all your fault (*glares generally at everybody, although most specifically at Myo and oh yes Kepp*) if I screw this up and my blog disappears into the black hole of html-ignorance.

*sighs*

Wow. I like the new look. I really like the picture under "About Me," but change the font color.

At 10:35 pm, Blogger Emano said...

Oh, and don't forget to save your template in a text file-- like the Good Myo said.

At 10:44 pm, Blogger keppet said...

I thought you said you liked rounded corners.

It looks good... profile font colours need some thought as emano said but I guess you're still wondering what to put in there.

Not sure you are as cold a person as these colours suggest!

At 11:23 pm, Blogger La Tulipe said...

Eh. Twas Keppet who said that, not Biped.

Obviously. As she knows ye Best.

At 11:43 pm, Blogger skittledog said...

Who said what?

I do like rounded corners, but can't get them to work with this mix of colours without creating them myself. Which I am not going to waste the time to do...I don't think.

I'd quite like to get rid of my profile altogether but haven't yet figured out how to do so without losing the picture too. So I just gave up on that in the end and left it as is. Will play more later.

Oh, and I love cold colours. Blues and greens...definitely my favourites.

At 6:15 am, Blogger keppet said...

What are you doing down here? You have too much time on your hands. Shoo!
Ha.

I'd quite like to get rid of my profile altogether but haven't yet figured out how to do so without losing the picture too.
It is possible (obviously).

Hey- you could do random pictures like random quotes... just a thought.

At 6:21 am, Blogger Andy said...

The link to your profile doesn't show up, you are about to enter then fun world of trying to work out appropriate colours ;)

But speaking as someone who can rarely be arsed tweaking blogger's template, well done and keep up the good work :)

At 6:43 am, Blogger Emma said...

I'm trying to fiddle with the colour of my 'About Me' bit, but I'm not sure which part of the template to fiddle with...

Help?

At 6:49 am, Blogger Jess said...

I don't think I could live without rounded corners. But the profle pic really is very lovely.

Sigh. I wish I had hours upon days to fiddle with my blog. The only thing I could do without needing excessive time was the weather thingy. Oh well, one day.

At 7:12 am, Blogger myo said...

Where's the weather link skits?
Jes has a weather link ... why don't you? Are you ashamed of your weather?

Oh and how come myo gets glared at when kepp's the one who has been subtly inveigling everyone into individulalising their blogs.

At 7:27 am, Blogger myo said...

For emma.
this i think is the part to fiddle around with (#999 = your grey background colour)

/* Profile
----------------------------------------------- */
#profile-container {
background:#999 url("http://www.blogblog.com/rounders2/corners_prof_bot.gif") no-repeat left bottom;
margin:0 0 15px;
padding:0 0 10px;
color:#fff;
}
#profile-container h2 {
background:url("http://www.blogblog.com/rounders2/corners_prof_top.gif") no-repeat left top;
padding:10px 15px .2em;
margin:0;
border-width:0;
font-size:115%;
line-height:1.5em;
color:#fff;
}

Hey- only emano! And she is the one that complained it was unoriginal first...

At 7:51 pm, Blogger skittledog said...

Myo gets glared at because Myo's blog has the most obvious superiority complex.

Hey- you could do random pictures like random quotes... just a thought.

Indeed. One I had first, however, hence putting even the one pic up to see if I could. Hmph. I don't need you to think of everything for me...

At 8:56 pm, Blogger skittledog said...

Yes! I seem to have worked out some basic principles of randomness.

Okay, now I need to actually do something with the randomness, but all good things in time.

At 9:09 pm, Blogger keppet said...

Indeed. One I had first, however
Hands up who actually believes that.

Oh skit, what would you do without me?

At 9:12 pm, Blogger keppet said...

Blah? Bloggledog? Hmmm.

I think you need an animated title. Something with snowflakes darting around. Shouldn't be too hard. I'm sure you could knock something up in a heartbeat.

At 9:16 pm, Blogger Emano said...

Random picture? That is such a cool idea. Too bad I can't do it now because bob said it and it would just look like I was bob's minion. Again.

At 9:29 pm, Blogger keppet said...

See- emano thinks it was my idea and not skit's! Ha!

At 10:06 pm, Blogger skittledog said...

That's just cos I'm such an unassuming, humble, nice sort of person.

And when I come up with a decent title, I'll use it. You're one to talk, anyway.

what would you do without me?
Wither and die?

Or...nah. Hmm. Work more?

At 10:24 pm, Blogger keppet said...

Hmm, sounds likely.

My blog title is actually helpful. And true.

At 10:37 pm, Blogger skittledog said...

Mine's now decidedly untrue, but at least it's short and sweet. I no have thirty-three subtitles, though, and if you divide that by the none I had half an hour ago...

At 10:41 pm, Blogger keppet said...

You had three- Blah, Hurray! and Ni.

Where do titles 1, 2... hell, all of them. Apart from 3. Where do they come from? What are they about?

Or I could just google.

Your blog is still going to be called A Day in the Life in my bookmarks.

At 10:43 pm, Blogger skittledog said...

What was 3? Ah...yeah. Heh. Well the rest are a mixture. You must recognise some of the HHGTTG ones, and there are a couple of Pratchetts...one Farscape, two Buffy...a bit of Shakespeare, quite a few lines from random poems or songs...you know.

Stuff.

At 11:02 pm, Blogger keppet said...

I think it should be the blog that says Ni.

Okay I know...

Not So Much Falling As Sauntering Vaguely Downwards

Crackers Don\'t Matter

Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!

Reasonably Priced Love & A Hard Boiled Egg

I Wear the Cheese

Mostly Harmless

Yellow

Bulldozer

What Do You Get If You Multiply Six By Nine

42

Oh No, Not Again

Blessed Are The Cheesemakers

Which means I have missed a Buffy...

At 11:20 pm, Blogger skittledog said...

Yes, you have. It's not as obvious as the other one though. You have also missed another HHGTTG and a good few Pratchetts. The rest are poetry, songs, Hamlet or just pure random things I like.

One poem got a bit of a Firefly ref added to it. Heh. Sure Philip Larkin isn't turning in his grave at all...

At 11:28 pm, Blogger skittledog said...

Oh and Myo - mini weather gizmo added now, until I get fed up of it flashing at me. I need to find a classier one...one without a stained raincoat...

At 12:40 am, Blogger Andy said...

Stained? With what I wonder?

Buuuuuut anyway, good to see another person offering themselves to the weather god.

Isn't it remarkable how many people have weather...

At 11:50 am, Blogger Skywolf said...

Including me, now. :)

Although the nearest one I could get is for a city 16 miles away from where I am, but I suppose it'll do.

At 12:00 pm, Blogger Ata said...

{applauds}

Excellent tweaking, Oh skittledog. I STILL have not figured out drop caps, despite assistance. And I have not even attempted colour changes. So you are ahead of me.

At 5:11 pm, Blogger keppet said...

What's a drop cap?

At 6:45 pm, Blogger biped said...

were you trying to replace the name of your blog with the infinity symbol?

Please say yes, so I can call you 'formerly known as Skittleprince' from now on.

At 9:19 pm, Blogger keppet said...

What do you mean trying? She did.

I think I have realised why I hate this design so much... because the colours are as far from me as you can get. And I don't like skit being far from me.

Sigh.

At 5:39 am, Blogger Ata said...

Myo has drop caps. Where the first letter is big and the rest aren't.

At 6:32 am, Blogger myo said...

"Myo gets glared at because Myo's blog has the most obvious superiority complex."
- skits

Myo's blog does not have a superiority complex! In fact, it's feeling quite dark and dull and inferior now.

At 7:57 am, Blogger daisy said...

I love the titles.

Why does everyone else have all these good ideas that then I can't use becaue it'll look like copying? Even when I had them already? Bah.

*refreshes the page again*

At 9:19 am, Blogger Jess said...

The colours are quite pleasing actually. Nice and dark, none of that splashes of cheery colours stuff. Pah!

I want to do the random picture idea...

At 10:13 pm, Blogger skittledog said...

biped - yes, it's infinity. Because I had just got fed up of any sort of real title (hence the changing sub-titles). And infinity seemed...a nice symbol to go for. Or possibly a challenge to my blog-writing skills...

I am going to sort out pictures...soon. Probably. Ooh look, apparently it's -2C out there already. That's why I need the heating on, then.

Yay jes to the colour approval. Kepp is being most unreasonable, is she not? I couldn't find colours that suit me more.

And as to:
Myo's blog does not have a superiority complex! In fact, it's feeling quite dark and dull and inferior now.
Well then you shouldn't have made it so obviously superior that the rest of us went ond overcompensated...

Blog Inferiority Complex. It's a terrible thing.

Dear Skittleprince. To remove your profile data,
remove the content of the < div id="profile-container > tag.

find the following code:

<!-- Begin #profile-container -- >
< div id="profile-container >
....
loadsa useless profile code
.....
< /div >

< !-- End #profile -- >

replace it with < div id="profile-container" > < /div >

At 10:22 pm, Blogger skittledog said...

Playing as we speak.

I think I'm just going to get rid of the box altogether and have yet another box.

Because boxes are good.

At 10:26 pm, Blogger biped said...

I'm just spamming your blog now. It was me who deleted a post due to problems distinguishing between the ampersand and percentage sign...the trouble one needs to go into to post brackets on a blog comment.

I seemed to have tried your blog at a time where the only thing that was working was the new infinity title, and when I came back later the title has changed and the rest of the blog displayed. Blah, over explaining here.

If you are trying to get rid of the profile data and it won't accept an emply < div > tag, just put a < br/ > tag inside the div

At 10:27 pm, Blogger biped said...

Stop replying to me while I'm trying to give you sage advice.

You managed to make every single one of my comments obsolete. Hrmph.

At 10:29 pm, Blogger biped said...

Heh, I was all grumpy when I came home. Spamming your blog has really cheered me up. I think I'll go find myself a new name and start playing troll on everyones blog.

At 10:35 pm, Blogger biped said...

Noooo, go back to Crackers don't matter.

Or maybe don't, and I'll use that as my title.

At 10:38 pm, Blogger skittledog said...

It'll go back eventually. Right now I've got the meaning of life. Which is nice.

You managed to make every single one of my comments obsolete.
Heehee. All part of the service.

And spam away. I like comments. ;)

Okay, now to find some other photos to rotate with that one...

At 11:12 pm, Blogger skittledog said...

Ugh, can't get them to randomise. Grr. Okay - leaving it there for tonight.

Is that a more cheerily-coloured picture for those who were finding my blog just unspeakably depressing to visit?

At 11:12 pm, Blogger keppet said...

I can't help, sorry. And I do find the extra off-white relieves some of the doom and gloom and the sunset lends some warmth.

Which you need. -2c. Niiice.

At 12:14 am, Blogger keppet said...

Oh my me...

When I look at it on my desktop the white is blinding and the background is black, not blue and the text background is green and not kind of "ocean".

Wowzers.

How is it meant to look?

At 6:33 am, Blogger Jess said...

The photo is very nice. Nice nice, not just nice. ;) The white is a little out of place though.

Are you going to have a background or leave it plain? The people want to know.

At 7:05 am, Blogger Emma said...

Now I feel all inferior about my blog again. Ah well, I like my pretty colours. *grins*

Does anyone know how I can change the font in my title? I want to make it a bit more exciting, but I have no idea how.

At 12:34 pm, Blogger Skywolf said...

A 'Birdhouse in Your Soul' title!!

Brilliant. :)

At 12:56 pm, Blogger skittledog said...

Heehee. Thought you'd appreciate that one. I might have to cut it down in size though, as it's a tad ridiculous...

Sigh. I clearly need to do something about the colours, as I have no control over how anyone else's computer displays them. I set it up with the softer version - more navy background, more off-white boxes, but my desktop gives me nearly black and white too. Not good.

Em, try googling for html fonts - I'm sure I saw a way to specify them but I like mine so didn't bother taking it in.

At 1:25 pm, Blogger Skywolf said...

Heh - that song is now permanently stuck in my head, you realise. Still great, though. *grin*

The colours are appearing as black and white on my monitor too, although I still think the whole thing looks nice. Perhaps it would be even better if I was seeing it as it was meant to be, mind you.

At 9:45 pm, Blogger skittledog said...

Better, colour-wise? Or does this give a hideous colour clash on some monitors (or to eyes with better colour sense than mine)?

Have given up on randomising the pictures for the moment. I'll just put a new one up every week or...no, that'll never work, but I'll never change it daily either...well, just whenever I feel like it. Okay?

At 9:49 pm, Blogger La Tulipe said...

Ah! Rian likes the offwhite very much.

I am not so sure about the purple.

I would tilt head if I could. It is close. And very pretty.

Rian still thinks ye should try burgundy.

At 10:01 pm, Blogger skittledog said...

skits cannot actually find a reliable colour chart and so is just entering random numbers and seeing what colours appear...so skits cannot do burgundy. Hot pink would be about the closest I've bumped into so far...

I like the purple, but I agree it doesn't quite go with the 'ocean'...maybe a job for tomorrow.

Oh and Kepp - that's the photo I took coming out of work on Tuesday. Lens flare ahoy.

At 10:50 pm, Blogger keppet said...

I did wonder.

At 2:16 am, Blogger Emano said...

I like the purply blue background.

At 1:07 pm, Blogger Skywolf said...

Ack! *gropes blindly for sunglasses*

No no no... the nice soft greeny blues were lovely. This is cold... and bright. And it reminds me a little of a public swimming pool.

At 1:59 pm, Blogger skittledog said...

Heh. Okay...gonna have to do something about this. It's not that bad on my laptop, but I'm guessng the stronger contrasts on desktops are screwing it up again.

At 2:35 pm, Blogger skittledog said...

Any better?

Sigh.

Everyone should just have my computer.

At 2:44 pm, Blogger myo said...

this is a fun colour scheme generator to fool around with

http://wellstyled.com/tools/colorscheme2/index-en.html

check out all the buttons - can do mono to multiple colour schemes, and then adjust for dark/light/pastel etc tones.

At 2:53 pm, Blogger skittledog said...

Hmm, interesting...one of those looks very close to the one that hurt jes's eyes, for a start...:)

I'm okay with it as is at the moment, I think. If anyone else has issues, mention them now or forever shield your eyes...

At 3:00 pm, Blogger myo said...

I suggest you add some zigzaggy rainbow lines now.
Jes loves those.

At 6:21 pm, Blogger Jess said...

They make me break out in hives, that is how I love them so.

The blue looks alright, even pretty, on this laptop. But I suspect my eyes will be bleeding on a different computer though. Must be skits' (evil) mission...

At 7:20 pm, Blogger Skywolf said...

Hmm. Still looks exactly the same to me. I shall keep my sunglasses on, and all will be well. :)

At 10:48 pm, Blogger keppet said...

Obviously I think my colour ideas were better.

Go on... throw some orange in. You know you want to.

(But yeah- less miserable now. Kind of like you after your hot choc pick-me-up. Hey- why not change the colours depending on your mood?)

At 5:00 am, Blogger daisy said...

I liked it when the date header was the same colour as the background.

No sore eyes on my screen, so I say leave it as it is. ;)

At 5:09 am, Blogger keppet said...

Ha yeah- with the date and background the same it was like the blog entry background had letters cut out of it...

I thought skit would like to know that as all my bookmarks vanished, I have had to save her blog again. And this time it is called [infinity] rather than A Day in the Life. Does that please you?

At 11:59 am, Blogger skittledog said...

like the blog entry background had letters cut out of it...
Yeah...I rather liked that. Just forgot to change it this time round - I will at some point. When I come up with some new titles to add, I'll attend to it.

I'm still not happy with its name. I wish I could call it nothing. I dislike fixed titles so much...
